Answer:

Dividing 4x^2 - 13x + 8  by x + 5 or x - (-5), in synthetic division form:

-5)        4          |       -13      |          8

           ↓               4 x (-5)     (-5) x (-33)  

           4                 -33               173

=> Quotient is 4x - 33 and remainder is 173

=> (4x^2  - 13x + 8)/(x + 5) = (4x - 33) + 173/(x + 5)
