Imperialization occurs as one country controls or rules over other countries or territories. This political phenomenon was common from the 16th century to the 20th century because during this historical period industrialized western European countries such as England or France took control over other territories.
This process occurred through the use of arms or violence as in the case of the invasion and colonization in South America, but also imperialization was possible by exploiting natural resources and controlling its trade. For example, in Africa countries such as France, Belgium, Italy, England, etc. controlled the exploitation and trade of natural sources such as tea, cocoa, cotton, and diamonds. Thus, Industrialized Western Europe was able to imperialize countries by using arms, controlling trade, and capitalizing natural resources.
